India to train within smaller bubbles during Quarantine period in Adelaide, reveals Michael Cusack

The BCCI might have been busy putting the final touches to the preparation for the Indian Premier League, which is set to go ahead from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates, but there has been a bigger headache for Cricket Australia in regards to the Indian cricket team. An Indian squad for the Australia series will be named in October, with the team scheduled to fly down to Australia with the rest of the Aussie contingent taking part in the IPL in a specially arranged Chartered flight.

After the Western Australian state government declared that neither the Australian nor Indian cricketers will be given any special allowance to train during the Quarantine period, Adelaide emerged as the front-runner, especially because of the newly-opened hotel next to the ground. While India wanted to train during Quarantine, South Australia deputy chief public health officer Michael Cusack talked about smaller bubbles.

"They will be allowed to train in what you might consider smaller bubbles. So, there might be three or four players that would be allowed to train during their quarantine period, and it would be the same consistent players," he was quoted as saying on the ABCwebsite, reported Cricbuzz.

"If you had the whole party training together and one person inadvertently tested positive all of them would become a close contact (and) everyone would need a further 14 days of isolation and quarantine," the officer added.

With a spike in cases in Melbourne, Adelaide has also been talked about the venue for the Boxing Day Test this year but now that is subject to confirmation. India, however, might play a Day/Night practice match at the venue. Cricbuzz has also reported that Brisbane, which was planned as the venue for the first Test between the two teams, might as well host the entire ODI and T20I series between two teams.
