After being hit on the helmet during the intra-squad match, Pakistan’s Abid Ali on Monday has been cleared of concussion ahead of the last two days. However, Ali is instructed not to take the field for day four and five of the intra-squad match as a precautionary measure ahead of the Test series.

Despite playing only three Tests in Pakistan’s colours, Abid Ali at the age of 32 has established himself as a regular in the country’s Test setup, following his impressive display. His debut came in 2019 against Sri Lanka in Pakistan’s home comeback series, where he impressed the management with 321 runs, at an average of 160.50 with two hundreds in as many Tests.

That also meant that he was one of the first names to be picked in the squad for the upcoming Test series against England. Ahead of the Test series, the management were dealt with a scare as the batsman fielding at short-leg walked back dazed after being smacked on the helmet. However, to the management and fans’ delight, the batsman has been cleared of concussion, as confirmed by PCB.

"Abid is absolutely fine and will be available to resume training on Wednesday following Tuesday's rest day," Dr Sohail Saleem said in a Pakistan Cricket Board statement, reported TOI.

Despite the positive update, the right-hander would not take the field on day four and five of the intra-squad match owing to precautionary measures.

"He underwent a precautionary CT scan which has also returned normal (findings)."
