Vijay Hazare Trophy | Elite Group A and Elite Group B matches called off for the second day running

For the second day running, the 2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy saw all Elite Group A and Elite Group B matches getting called off due to heavy rains. While the Group B matches in Vadodara were called off after it started, Group A matches in Bengaluru were abandoned even without the toss happening.

No less than 18 teams from Elite Group A and Elite Group B would have to wait for yet another day to kick start their 2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign as for the second consecutive day, bad weather ensured that the teams shared points amongst themselves at the end of the day. This comes as a major blow for many, as several Indian internationals - including Rishabh Pant - were looking to get some valuable match practice heading into the long and hectic home season that will get going in a few days time.

While the Elite Group A matches in Bengaluru were abandoned without a single ball bowled, the Group B matches in Vadodara saw overs being reduced and even innings' being completed, but unfortunately, the rains were persistent enough for the umpires to call play off and decide that enough was enough. However, in the few overs that did happen, Rishi Dhawan (4/43) for HP and Navdeep Saini (4/36) for Delhi put up impressive showings before rain put an end to the match.

With more matches scheduled in both Bengaluru and Vadodara on Thursday, it remains to be seen whether we'll get a hat-trick of washouts in Elite Group A and Elite Group B.
