Earlier, opening batsman Chris Lynn had revealed that was shocked and disappointed by the silence of the selectors before his T20 snubbing ahead of the three T20s each against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. However, Matthew Wade, who faced the same fate as Lynn, says his communication with selectors was hassle-free and non-ambiguous. Wade said that the selectors had communicated the reason as to why they chose to drop him ahead of the squad announcement.
“I was lucky enough to be around the Australian team for the last three months so I’ve had communication with the selectors and the coach,” Wade was quoted as saying by foxsports.com.au at Fox Cricket’s 2019-20 launch.
Wade, who hasn’t played a T20I since September 2016, knows his place in the Australian setup and is hopeful of getting picked in the future. “I know exactly where I stand in all formats and I’m happy with that. I’ve just got to keep making runs. When you’re not getting picked it’s easy to look at a hundred different reasons but usually the reason is if you perform well enough you’ll get picked at some stage,” he added.
