Mitchell Marsh injures right hand after hitting dressing room wall in frustration

With the Pakistan team landing in the country for a series next month, Marsh was looking at the Sheffield Shield matches as a way to impress the national selectors and find a way into the Test side. However, with this injury, it looks like a good chunk of his time to stake his claim has been lost, especially given that Western Australia’s next match against Victoria starts on Friday. 

"Marsh sustained the injury when he struck the wall in the changerooms following his dismissal earlier in the day. The extent of the injury and a timeframe on his return will be determined later this week after further investigation," WACA said statement, reported ESPNCricinfo.

Earlier this year, Marsh was recalled to Australia's Test side for the final match of the Ashes series. Despite the match ending in an Aussie-defeat, and Marsh failing to impress with the bat — making scores of 17 and 24 — the 27-year-old delivered his maiden five-wicket haul. During the tour, his captain Tim Paine — who was incidentally playing against him in this Shield match — had urged Marsh to emulate the role Ben Stokes delivers for England in red-ball cricket.
