After India took an early lead in the series thanks to two washouts. the fourth game being was to a 17-over affair due to incessant rain in Surat. As many as six dropped catches from South Africa gave the hosts a 51-run win and a subsequent 2-0 lead at home, which means, with one game to go, the chances of South Africa winning the series was non-existent.
However, with one extra game being added to the roaster, South Africa still have a chance to draw the series if they win the next two games. The extra game will be played on the rest day, that is today, before the last T20I is played at the same venue tomorrow. This means that Thursday’s match will be the fourth T20I while Friday’s fifth match stands as it is.
In the fourth T20I, which is now called as the third T20I, 15-year-old Shefali Verma, who has started off the series with a duck on her debut, rose to the occasion for the India Women's team on Tuesday, smashing a 33-ball 46 while opening. That and the bowlers dominating once again, the hosts secured a comfortable victory over the South Africa Women's team.
