Moment of madness arrived in the Women’s Big bash League game between Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers when Stars batsman Lizelle Lee hit the ball bowled by Samantha Betts straight into the hands of deep square leg. It was expected that the ball would be called a no-ball as it was a full-toss above Lee’s waist height. To make things precise, the ball was above his face-high.
The no-ball was so obvious that even the Scorchers fielders did not celebrate the wicket but instead, the deep fielder sent the ball back to the keeper immediately. But the umpire thought otherwise and gave Lee out which left her absolutely baffled.
She could not believe her luck and unfortunately had to make her way to the pavilion as the umpire’s decision had to be respected. Such confusing incidents in cricket make everyone wonder how low has the standard of umpiring fallen in recent times.
Gone! Full toss from Sam Betts and Lizelle Lee has to go for 17...
