India's star performers in the first Test, Mohammed Shami and Mayank Agarwal have made huge strides in the latest Test rankings released by the ICC. The duo played a vital role in India's innings and 130 runs victory against visitors Bangladesh in the first Test of the series in Indore.

India continued their dream run in the World Test Championship, with their crushing innings victory over Bangladesh taking them to 300 points, handing them a significant lead over the rest of the pack. 

The heroes of India's innings win, Mohammed Shami and Mayank Agarwal, saw themselves rise in the ICC player rankings to achieve career best rankings. Shami, for his 7-58 in the match, broke into the top 10 in the bowler's rankings as he secured the seventh position in the list while double centurion and Man of the Match Mayank Agarwal rose to 11th position despite having just played eight Tests.

Apart from them, Ishant Sharma also saw a healthy rise in his rankings as he broke into the top 20. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin took the fourth position among all-rounders as he retained his position in the top 10 bowlers after bagging 5 wickets in the match.

For the visitors, batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das were the only ones to move up the list while youngster Abu Jayed, who was their only successful bowler, rose in the list on the back of his career best figures of 4-108.

The second match of the series, which will be a historic day/night affair, will commence from November 22 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
