Warner has been in red hot form in recent times and ended as the highest run-scorer in the Indian Premier League, scoring 692 runs in 12 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad and played a key role behind their journey to the playoffs. In the warm-up game, he played a good knock of 43 runs against Englnad which his side won to gain some confidence. However, the former Australian vice-captain missed the second warm-up game against Sri Lanka, where Usman Khawaja opened the innings alongside Aaron Finch and plundered 89 runs.
As per a report on Cricket.com.au, Warner suffered a soreness in his upper leg but is expected to be fit for their first game against Afghanistan. Warner hit the nets in Wednesday morning in Bristol and the signs are positive.
With Khawaja capitalising on the opening slot, Australia have a good headache with in-form players to pick from at the top of the order. Warner returned to the ODI side after serving a year-ban for his involvement in the sandpaper gate scandal. His recent form and massive experience will be crucial for Australia in a big tournament like the World Cup.
