Wicket-keepers are often one of the most agile players in cricket as the likes of MS Dhoni, AB De Villiers, and Kumar Sangakkara have proved time and again over the years. However, Australia’s Tim Paine showed he wasn’t far behind as he scored a beautiful half-court effort in the basketball court.

With the ICC World Cup 219 just around the corner, Australia Test captain Tim Paine is currently enjoying a break ahead of the intense Ashes series against England scheduled later this summer.

Last night, the 34-year old was seen in attendance at the game between Southern Huskies and Manawatu Jets in their latest round of the New Zealand Basketball League. Paine, who was born in Tasmania, is a hardcore supporter of the Southern Huskies and is also their number one ticket holder. He was called up at the half time to attempt a half-court shot as means of entertainment for the crowd.

The wicketkeeper-batsman is not known for his long-throws in cricket but he certainly showed the crowd last night that he can play ball like a boss after he scored a sensational flip shot from the halfway line.

The former Hobart Hurricanes captain raised a one-finger salute to the crowd after making the shot and then high-fived the Huskies mascot as he enjoyed in his moment of glory. Later Paine was offered the chance to match his feat from the three-quarter-court mark, but missed the basket by a narrow margin.
