DRS should be implemented in Ranji Trophy, says Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has stated that the idea to use DRS (Decision Review System) in Ranji Trophy should be implemented. Given the frequent umpiring errors in domestic cricket, teams’ captains and coaches had mooted this idea in a BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) conclave.

As per reports, the initial plan was to implement DRS (Decision Review System) only in the televised matches of Ranji Trophy but given the randomness of the same, teams were not very amused with the idea. However, it is now likely that DRS will be used for every match. Suryakumar Yadav is in support of using the DRS even in Ranji Trophy, on the lines of the IPL (Indian Premier League) and international cricket.

“Rightly said - if there is a technology and if you can use it, you should use it. As we see there are lots of errors and we are all humans and are bound to make mistakes. If there is a technology, we can use it and go ahead,” said Suryakumar, who played a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians’ victorious IPL campaign this year, reported PTI.

Suryakumar’s Mumbai and MI teammate Aditya Tare were also in favour of the DRS.

“Yes absolutely, it’s a great move, if at all it happens. Because it is the need of the hour. If you have technology, you might as well use it,” said the wicket-keeper batsman, who did not get a single game in the IPL this year.

“See in domestic cricket there are lots of decisions that can sometimes go against you because of umpiring errors. If we have an opportunity to correct it, then why not use it. It’s going to be great (if it happens),” added the 31-year-old.
