England have been in red-hot form in limited-overs format especially after registering a 4-0 ODI series win against Pakistan on home soil last week. The home team thoroughly dominated the five-match series in all departments as they entered the final phase of their WC preparation.
However, a grueling last few months, which also saw some English players participate in the Indian Premier League, seems to have taken toll on the team. Former England captain, Paul Collingwood, who is currently the fielding coach of the national team was forced to take the pitch after English pacers Mark Wood and Jofra Archer both suffered injury scares during the warm-up game against Australia on Saturday.
The veteran all-rounder was pictured running around on the ground wearing Wood's World Cup jersey. In addition to that, Joe Root, who was rested for Saturday's warm-up match, was also asked to take the field to compensate for the missing English players.
England skipper Eoin Morgan was missing the game due to a finger injury suffered during a training session while spinner Adil Rashid skipped did not field due to a shoulder injury.
