IPL 2019 | Jasprit Bumrah will not get it right every time, says AB de Villiers

India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is the number one ranked ODI bowler in the world and has earned the title of a death-over specialist over the years. However, Royal Challenger Bangalore’s star batsman AB de Villiers believes that Bumrah, and not the batsmen, will be under pressure when he bowls at the Chinnaswamy stadium in the encounter between two teams today.

The pitch at Bengaluru has always been a batsman's paradise and with its short boundaries, the gound has always been a high scoring one . It was at this stadium in 2013, where Chris Gayle had scored an unbeaten 175 in an IPL match, and Rohit Sharma had scored his first ODI double hundred.

"No one is perfect and yes Bumrah is a very good bowler but he is also not supposed to get it right all the time. Here the ground is not very huge and the wicket is more often than not good for the batters. For that matter, all the bowlers are under pressure here," said AB de Villiers, reported PTI.

The Bengaluru based franchise had a dismal start to their IPL campaign, as they were bundled out for 70, with only one batsman reaching double figures, in their first encounter against the Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk on March 23.

"It is up to us batters to play a good game in the next match, assess the conditions well. Whichever wicket we are getting we need to play better cricket than the last game," the former South Africa captain said.

Apart from part-time spinners Kedar Jadhav and Suresh Raina, the CSK captain MS Dhoni had three full time spinners Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja in their ranks, who wreaked havoc on RCB batsmen and scalped eight wickets in total. On the other hand, the Virat Kohli led side had only opted for two spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Moeen Ali, in their playing XI.

"Dhoni had seamers but he also had spin back up. We did not have that luxury but I thought we had a fantastically balanced team that can play cricket on any wicket in the world. Obviously, looking back after the ball turned two meters, you want to play on a different wicket but no one was expecting it," expressed the 35-year-old.
