ICC World Cup 2019 | Jasprit Bumrah undergoes doping test ahead of Southampton encounter

Although the BCCI is not accredited to WADA, and have remained firm in their stand not to come under the ambit of doping agency, they are bound to follow the protocol set up by WADA during the ICC events. Jasprit Bumrah became the first Indian cricketer in this World Cup to have taken for a doping test during the team’s practice session at the Rose Bowl stadium in Southampton.

As per a report on Indian Express, there were a total of two sittings in the test and in the first round, the Gujarat pacer was taken for a urine test and after 45 minutes, the blood sample of the pacer was taken.

As per the rules of the WADA, they don’t need to test every cricketer but they have the freedom to choose any one of them at any given time, asking them to give their urine and blood sample. While a senior BCCI official has confirmed that Bumrah was taken for the test, it has not been disclosed if anyone else was indeed taken for the test.
