There has been no confirmation over the availability of the Australian cricket team’s fortress - The Gabba - for India’s next tour of Australia which is scheduled to be held in the 2020-21 season. However, the Gabba has been confirmed as the venue of the first Ashes Test match against England.

The Virat Kohli-led team India registered a historic Test series win against Australia last year as they ran out winners in the four-match Test saga under the guidance of coach Ravi Shastri. However, the Indians were left frustrated at the fact that they were not able to play in one of the Australian cricket team’s strongholds - The Gabba in Brisbane.

Australia's Test team are unbeaten in Brisbane since the last 30 years and if often the starting point for their international season. However, in the last season, the first match against India was played in Adelaide much to the frustration of the players and management.

India are scheduled to travel to Australia during the 2020-21 season for another four-match Test series but it is yet to be confirmed if they will play at the iconic stadium as one of the big five venues will miss out on hosting a Test. Afghanistan are the other Test visitors that season for their first match against Australia.

Reports last month confirmed that the ground would host the opening Test for the 2019-20 season against Pakistan and also the first Test of the upcoming Ashes series against England.
