South Africa got off to a good start while chasing a massive target of 331 against Bangladesh at the Kennington Oval. Their openers were doing a good job and negotiating the Bangladeshi bowlers with care. For Proteas, to get close to Bangladesh’s total, it was important for Quinton de Kock to fire on all cylinders and get a big score under his belt.
On the fourth delivery of the 10th over, de Kock edged a delivery off Mehidy Hasan which was dropped by Mushfiqur Rahim behind the stumps. The drop gave the southpaw a reprieve, but he couldn’t capitalise on that as he tried to sneak a single but was run out by the keeper himself.
It was a comedy of errors as there was no single on offer on that mishap but a horrible mix-up between the openers and a brilliant direct hit, cut short de Kock’s innings. De Kock looked dejected after the dismissal as he could hardly capitalise on the reprieve.
