VIDEO | MS Dhoni trolls Yuzvendra Chahal for making continuous field changes like Muralitharan

MS Dhoni’s funny quips have been an ever-present behind the stumps and the broadcasters have shown them time and time again to earn huge TRPs. In the fifth ODI, there was a funny MS Dhoni moment when he trolled Yuzvendra Chahal for his excessive field change, by calling them 'Muralitharan-alike'.

Muttiah Muralitharan used to change the field too much and for every batsman, he had a different plan, which was apparent in one of the series against India when he used to take more time to finish the over than Chaminda Vaas. During his time with Chennai Super Kings, he took an eternity to finish to finish his over against AB de Villiers as he kept on changing his field-set, and Dhoni was behind the stumps in that over.

The same scenario was repeated in Wellington in the fifth and final ODI of India-New Zealand series when Yuzvendra Chahal continuously asked for a different fieldset when James Neesham was batting. Kuldeep Yadav was at the mid-on area and was seen bothered by that, but MS Dhoni immediately entered the conversation to troll the leg-spinner.

Looking towards Kuldeep, Dhoni said, “Phenkne de isko. Muralitharan sejyada fielding meinuskofarakpadta hai”, which can be loosely translated to, “Let him bowl! He is bothered more than (Muttiah) Muralitharan when it comes to field placements.”

Kuldeep found that amusing as he chuckled before returning to the crease.
