Shivam Dube is an exciting prospect, set to be good all-rounder, opines Bharat Arun

India bowling coach Bharat Arun is of the opinion that paceman Shivam Dube possesses all constituents to become an able all-rounder at international level. The 26-year-old Dube made his T20I debut for India last month during the three-match series against Bangladesh and has played all games since.

After a promising performance with the ball against Bangladesh, Dube rose to fame when he stunned one and all in the 2nd T20I of the recently concluded home series against West Indies. It was a rather quirky decision by captain Virat Kohli to promote Dube to No.3 in the Trivandrum T20I but how that turned out was astonishing. Although India lost that game, Dube’s 30-ball 54 was the highlight of the game.

"He (Dube) is an exciting prospect and I think he is gaining in confidence from every game. Even if you look at the way he came back the way after he bowled the first over (in Mumbai) against West Indies, I think that was creditable. For Virat (Kohi), to show faith in him after the first over and also for him to bowl a good spell after that,” Bharat Arun opined, according to TOI.

Now that Dube has proven that he can bat too, Arun believes that the youngster is fully equipped to be an able all-rounder at the highest level. For that he’ll only need to keep his confidence going up and alive throughout all games.

"And I think he is an exciting talent for us. As he gains in confidence, he will become a good all-rounder," he added.
