WI A vs IND A | Shubman Gill double century puts India 'A' in firm control at end of Day 3

Shubman Gill ended his Caribbean tour in the best fashion possible, as the 19-year-old struck an unbeaten double century (204*) on Day 3 to put his side in a commanding position. On the other hand, Hanuma Vihari, who has had a very indifferent tour so far, also redeemed himself, as the Andhra Pradesh batsman scored his first ton of the series (118*) to give the selectors a timely reminder of what he's capable of, ahead of the Test series.

Resuming Day 3 on 23/3, India 'A' lost nightwatchman Shahbaz Nadeem early on in the session, finding themselves reeling at 50/4. However, the duo of Gill and Vihari put together an unbeaten 315-run stand to ensure that the Indians all but batted the Caribbean team out of the match, setting them a mammoth target of 373. In an exhibition of counter-attacking, the duo hit a total of 29 fours and three sixes to pummel the West Indian bowlers into submission.

After India's declaration, the West Indian opening pair of Montcin Hodge and Jeremy Solozano ensured they got through to stumps unscathed, as they ended the day on 37/0, seeing out the threat of Umesh Yadav, Avesh Khan, and Krishnappa Gowtham. The Windies would now need another 336 runs on the final day to clinch the third and final unofficial Test between the two teams.
