VIDEO | Imran Tahir goes on his trademark running celebration even before MS Dhoni stumps Shubman Gill

Imran Tahir is always a joy to watch with the ball in hand and probably the patent right holder of one of the best celebrations in cricket. That reached epic proportions tonight as, even before MS Dhoni could complete a stumping, Tahir started his trademark celebration for Shubman Gill dismissal.

Every successful sportsman yearns for the days when he played the sport just for the love of it. In today’s highly commercialized and competitive world, it’s naive to expect any professional sportsmen to play with that innocence, but Imran Tahir is a clear anomaly to the theory thanks to the pure unbridled joy that he brings to the table.

With KKR batsmen struggling to pick the spinners from their hands, Tahir had an advantage while bowling to Shubman Gill. As expected, he bowled a googly to the right-hander in his search of deceiving the batsmen with the natural angle. Gill was not ready for it and in search of a drive away from the body, he threw his bat in the forward direction.

However, the ball beat his inside edge and when he tried to overbalance himself by dragging his back leg out of the crease, MS Dhoni was in all readiness behind the stumps to pull off his favourite pastime. Then the best thing in the game happened.

Even before the CSK skipper could collect and effect the stumping, Tahir was already in a motion of celebration and his confidence on Dhoni was there to see. Dhoni eventually stood up to Tahir’s faith and easily effected the stumping to send Gill back to the pavilion.
