IPL 2019 | “How can someone hit sixes like that”- MS Dhoni asks in awe of Andre Russell

Andre Russell has been a phenomenon this IPL, and with his sheer brute force, he single-handedly changed the narrative of most of the matches. In the process, the Jamaican has amassed 207 runs at an inhuman strike rate of 268, leaving no way for the bowlers to devise a plan against him. Having been at the receiving end of such carnage at Chepauk last year, MS Dhoni perfectly understood how the all-rounder could change the game and admitted that he had a nightmare to tackle plan against him. 

“After KKR game last year, I had to go through the full nightmare. I had to remember the Russell carnage where I was lost for fielding options. I had four fielders inside the ring apart from the keeper and bowler and five other fielders were outside of the ring. But he was hitting everything to the stands. I was left wondering how could someone hit big sixes like that,” Dhoni was seen saying in the Hotstar documentary.

After Chennai Super Kings put that portion out on Twitter, Kolkata Knight Riders joined it by saying “When the 👑#thala of 6s lauds you for your efforts, you know you're doing a good job! @Russell12A”

The two teams will take on each other at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai tonight.
