IPL 2019 | My first IPL has been a very good experience so far, reveals Sam Curran

Sam Curran, who is the younger son of former Zimbabwe all-rounder Kevin Curran, created waves after In the first Test at Edgbaston against India where he took 4/74 in the first innings, including the wickets of India's top three batsmen. The young all-rounder scored 63 in England's second innings and was awarded Player of the Match. Sam went on to be named as England's Player of the Series against India, having contributed 272 runs and 11 wickets in England's 4-1 series victory.

After being picked up by Kings XI Punjab for the 2019 season of the Indian Premier league, Sam has impressed when given the opportunity. The youngster registered his first-ever IPL hat-trick in the crucial 14-run win over Delhi Capitals earlier this month. Curran admits that his debut experience in the Indian League has been a successful one so far.

“My first IPL and it has been a very good experience so far, playing in Indian conditions and in front of massive crowds. There is so much to learn from established names and even the ones who have not played international cricket.

“I spoke to a few guys [from the England team] before coming here and they were clear about how good the tournament was and I can see for myself that the standard is very high,” Curran told PTI.

In the KXIP dressing room, Curran enjoys the company of skipper R Ashwin and opener KL Rahul, but he added that he is learning most from India’s swing specialist Mohammed Shami.

“I am getting to pick the brains of Shami. He is obviously a top class bowler and I am learning lots from him, especially how to bowl in Indian conditions and I am sure I will be an improved bowler at the end of the tournament,” said the younger brother of England pacer Tom Curran.
