Karun Nair lashes out at team management for not communicating with him about non-selection

Karun Nair has stated that there was no conversation with anyone in the selection panel or the management about the lack of chance for him to play in the team. The Karnataka player was in the squad for the Test matches on the England tour that India lost 1-4, but did not get the chance to play.

After much delay the team for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies was announced on Saturday night. Skipper Virat Kohli made a comeback after much-deserved rest. There was a reason for every member of the squad to be picked or to be dropped from the squad but for one man, Karun Nair. He was dropped from the squad for West Indies series after warming the bench for five Tests in England.

“No, we haven't had any conversations. Nothing at all. It is difficult, but I haven't gone forth and asked anything, but yeah, we haven't had any conversation,” Karun Nair told Cricbuzz.

Nair’s initiation to Indian Test team was a brilliant story as he became only the second Indian batsman after Virender Sehwag to score a triple century when he made a 303 not out against England to win the match for his team. But the road after that has not been an easy one for him, failing in the series against Australia where in three matches he scored a total of 54 runs, failing to even score a half-century in that series.

“I played four innings probably in the Australia series, and I think any batsman could get a start and get out in two innings and could have two failures. But to be out of the team after that and not get a chance after that is just unfortunate. All I can say is everyone gets starts and gets out at some point in their careers. For me, it's happened at that time and after that I haven't got opportunities.

Karun, though will not blame anyone for not getting chances but rather prefer his bat doing the talk.

“It's just the way it is. The team management and everyone else makes their decisions and you as players have to respect it and move forward with that. Like I said, all I can do is let the bat do the talking, and I wouldn't like to say anything else on that,” Nair added.
