RP Singh made it known to the crowd on Tuesday via his Twitter account that he was retiring from all forms of cricket. Cherishing his Indian national team stint that would always be a treasured memory, the 2007 T20 World Cup hero thanked all people who made his journey in Indian cricket possible.

Singh had played for the Indian national team for a time period of six years, which consisted of 82 matches in all the three formats of the game. Overall, he took up over 100 wickets in his international career.

“13 years ago today, on 4th September 2005 was the first time I donned the Indian jersey. It was the stepping-stone to what would become the most cherished moments of my life,” Singh wrote on his Twitter account.

“Today as I hang my boots and call it a day, I wish to remember and give thanks to each and everyone who made this journey possible,” he said.

The year 2007 proved to be a remarkable one for him when he became one of India's most important players in their path to the World T20 victory and also in India’s historic win over Australia in the Perth Test later that year.

“For someone born in a small village, I never thought I would be able to say this – I have lived my dream. And for that I have nobody else to thank but you. My fans. For believing in me. for criticizing me and for hailing me but mainly for just being there for me. Thank you!” Singh said.
