Marnus Labuschagne’s lightning quick reactions at short leg stuns Mohammad Hafeez

Despite being an age-old sport, cricket might fool one into believing that one has seen everything in it but it still manages to come up with astonishing instances. A similar thing happened in the second Test between Pakistan and Australia where Mohammad Hafeez was caught by an astonishing catch.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first against Australia in the second Test match of the series after the first game was drawn thanks to some amazing batting by the Usman Khawaja on the final day. Pakistan was expecting a good start to the second game but things didn’t go in their way and experienced opener Hafeez had to go back to the hut as early as the third over of the game.

It was Mitchell Starc’s second over and on the final delivery, Hafeez was on strike when something pretty freakishly unusual happened on the field. It was a length delivery on the middle stump and Hafeez attempted a flick that went towards short leg, which was guarded by newcomer  Marnus Labuschagne who did something sensational there. He did really well to hang on to it although he himself was not sure about where the ball was.

The ball first hit his thigh and then his ankle but he was still in control of that and didn’t let that to touch the ground. The other leg came in and the ball remained in between the two legs. The third umpire looked at multiple replays from various angles and then adjudged Hafeez out. He was dismissed for four and Pakistan was reduced to 5/1 in three overs.
