VIDEO | Rohit Sharma endangers himself while cautioning Rishabh Pant to return to non-striker’s end

Being a senior partner comes with a lot of responsibility, but when you happen to be Rohit Sharma, you ought to be careful about yourself first. However, today, the Indian skipper forgot that he was being stranded in the middle of the wicket while asking Rishabh Pant to go back to non-striker’s end.

Farcical run-out is just a Rohit Sharma thing to do and Virat Kohli has been at the receiving end of the same in as many as five times in the ODIs. While Rohit compensated the Kohli loss by scoring two double centuries in those assignments, he seems to have been more proactive in his approach lately and that was on display today.

The incident took place in the 14th over of the game when Rohit squeezed an Oshane Thomas delivery to backward point and immediately set off for a single. However, there was never a run on offer, and when Rohit realized it, Pant had already set off reaching the middle of the pitch.

Seeing his partner in danger, the Indian skipper immediately asked him to go back although the ball had already missed the stumps and reached Kieron Pollard’s hands by that time. The conventional wisdom would suggest him to be on the backward follow through first while warning Pant about the same, but Rohit didn’t move at all and was stranded at his position till Pant reached safely. Pollard also failed to notice that and threw the ball towards the non-striker’s end.
