VIDEO | Rishabh Pant reviews the “worst” decision in IPL history

Before the IPL had started and with the DRS system getting introduced, BCCI had taken it upon themselves to pick ten umpires and give them workshops. However, CK Nandan’s shocking decision to adjudge Rishabh Pant LBW made all those preparations look futile as it was the worst one in IPL’s history.

Losing two quick wickets in the form of Rishabh Pant and Glenn Maxwell, Delhi’s fiery start was impeded early on. It called for players to take it slowly and build another partnership, which Shreyas Iyer and Pant did excellently before the skipper returned to the pavilion in the ninth over. The whole Feroz Shah Kotla was looking at their blue-eyed boy, Pant to take them home and the man was growing with every ball.

In the 15th over, Pant brought up his fifty yet another time this IPL and secured the orange cap in the process. With just five overs left and the score reading 116/3, it was time to gear up and Pant made his intentions well known by hitting Shankar for a boundary in the very next ball.

From the next over, things were going to heat up and everyone – Mumbai Indians, Feroz Shah Kotla crowd as well the umpire – had a clear indication of it. To add to the intensity, Pant’s audaciously cheeky reverse sweep six fired up the crowd. The vibrancy must have got the better of umpire CK Nandan, who came up with possibly one of the worst decisions in the IPL when he adjudged Pant out with the ball hitting way out of leg stump.

Hardik Pandya’s back of length delivery was fully missed by Pant who was coming down the pitch and the ball hit miles out of the leg stump. Pant was quick to review it and one after the other Ultraedge and Hawk-Eye gave indications that the ball was nowhere near to be given an out.
