VIDEO | Virat Kohli argues with umpire after Andrew Tye denies taking review after signalling for it

It seems like DRS, Virat Kohli, and “Bangalore” have become closely attached to each other, over the last one year or so following DRS-gate. Today, the RCB skipper came down to fight with the umpire after Andrew Tye withdrew his DRS appeal after nicking a ball to wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel.

RCB, as a team, are languishing at a position, where many other teams would have lost hope of making it to the playoffs. However, Virat Kohli’s character is known to all - fierce, aggressive and never ready to accept the defeat. And that was evident from the fact when at the toss, Kohli announced that the team were all set to play without any burden and if the first innings was anything to by, it was exactly that.

RCB bowlers and fielders put their heart out and never gave the hosts a chance to put up any sort of a challenge. And by the mid-innings, the hosts badly needed one of either Andrew Tye or Ravichandran Ashwin to guide the team to a respectable total in order to pose some challenge for the visitors.

However, that hope was also crushed in the 13th over of the innings when Umesh Yadav’s raw pace resulted in the ball climbing up awkwardly and Tye had already made up his mind to pull. However, the Aussie had to settle in for a faint top-edge which went into Parthiv Patel’s gloves.

However, not being very sure of the dismissal, Tye immediately signalled for a review, but after a second or two following a discussion with partner Axar Patel, he withdrew his request. Immediately, UltraEdge also showed a huge spike which confirmed that RCB had their man. However, that didn’t go down well with Kohli who came down charging towards the umpire and asked him how Punjab wouldn’t lose their review after asking for it in the first place. While Kohli insisted that the opposition should not have been given the chance to withdraw the appeal, leg-umpire Bruce Oxenford intervened and asked the 29-year-old to get on with the game.
