Sachin Tendulkar hails Prithvi Shaw’s 'remarkable progress'

Sachin Tendulkar has come up with high praise for India’s Under-19 World Cup winning captain Prithvi Shaw stating that the youngster has shown remarkable progress. The batting legend also felt that the upcoming inaugural T20 Mumbai League is the ideal platform for cricketers to express themselves.

India’s Under-19 World Cup winning captain Prithvi Shaw has been in the news for quite some time now by creating all the right noises and by taking giant strides in the right direction. In India's successful Under-19 World Cup, the 19-year old was in supreme touch scoring 261 runs in six games leading the Boys in Blue from the front in India's fourth U-19 World Cup triumph. Following his impressive form, he was snapped up by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 1.20 crore in the IPL player auction.

The young Mumbai opener has been getting praise from all directions and has made a new fan along the way. Tendulkar was the latest to shower praise on the 19-year old stating that he was impressed by the way Shaw had progressed. 

“I saw Prithvi Shaw play in New Zealand (in the U19 World Cup). How he has progressed is remarkable,” Tendulkar said, reported India Today. 

Tendulkar who is the brand ambassador for upcoming T20 Mumbai League said the tournament would provide an ideal platform for young players and experienced ones to express themselves. 

“To me this tournament is the ideal platform for cricketers to express themselves. All sportsmen look for recognition and appreciation and this league will provide them the opportunity. This league is really important for Mumbai cricket,” Tendulkar stated.

The league’s Commissioner, Sunil Gavaskar, and mentor Dilip Vengsarkar, both former Mumbai and India captains, were present at the event, along with former Test players Sandeep Patil and Vinod Kambli, mentors of two of the teams.
