VIDEO | Dwayne Bravo mocks Kieron Pollard after latter's dismissal

It is only amongst Windies players that one sees a sense of scathing camaraderie as they fool around and mock each other even when competing for different teams. Monday saw one such instance as Dwayne Bravo pranced around Kieron Pollard as he was returning to the pavilion after getting out cheaply.

One of the biggest USP of the Caribbean T20 league is the on-field antics of the local players. Known as born entertainers, Windies players have always liked to give a show of their success and failures on the field. And Pollard has always known to be one of the main contenders in it, more infamously a year back in 2017 when he was involved in a verbal spat with world’s heaviest cricketer Rahkeem Cornwall in a match between Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Stars.

Hence, it was only obvious that the big man of Mumbai Indians was on the receiving end of some taunts whenever he came on to bat. The most recent of instances took place on Monday in the match between Toronto Nationals and Winnipeg Hawks in the inaugural Global T20 Canada. Chasing a target of 165 runs, Toronto Nationals started in the worst way possible by losing four wickets for 30 runs in the power-play overs.

Down the order, Pollard was the team’s only hope but his slow batting didn’t help his side either. He managed to score 25 runs off 34 balls that included one boundary and two sixes before he gave away his wicket cheaply to Fidel Edwards. His wicket was the end of hope for the Nationals as Mohammad Naveed, Darren Samy, Nikhil Dutta and Mohammad Sami could only add 9 more runs.

Bravo, who had realized his side’s victory beforehand went in front of Pollard and danced as Pollard was making his way back to the dugout. Pollard, who was visually irritated by it didn’t react and left the field shaking his head.
