India took an early lead in the six-match ODI series thanks to a brilliant performance by Virat Kohli (112) and Ajinkya Rahane (79) who led the side to a comfortable six-wicket victory. After losing both openers at 67 runs, it was Kohli and Rahane who gave stability to the side by building a 189-run partnership. While chasing the target, the Delhi player scored 112 off 119 balls including ten boundaries.
With the century, Kohli also completed a unique set of centuries as he has centuries in all full-members, barring Pakistan, Afghanistan and Ireland, for obvious reasons. Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya are the only other players to score centuries in nine of the first ten full-member nations. Tendulkar did not manage a century in West Indies and Jayasuriya in Zimbabwe. And that makes Akhtar happy.
