IPL 2018 | Rajasthan Royals spinner Krishnappa Gowtham confident about team’s plan against RCB

Rajasthan Royals' spinner K Gowtham has appeared quite confident in his team’s plan to neutralize the big names of Royal Challengers Bangalore, who finally managed to get their first win of the season. He has also mentioned that the match would be a run fest and even 200 won’t be a safe score.

After the auction, Rajasthan Royals seemed quite sorted as far as their combination is concerned. However, after the first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, their woes started laying on the surface wide open and the team was strangled by the 2016 champions completely. However, ahead of the match against RCB, spinner Krishnappa Gowtham stated that the team had observed RCB’s match on Friday and they have planned out things according to that.

"We did get to watch yesterday's (Friday) game. We wanted to know what the wicket was doing. When bowlers were bowing it had initial grip, so it is an added advantage. The way the RCB batted there are a lot of things we can look at. The way they tackled the spin was very good," the off-spinner was quoted as saying by Wisden India.

"We have different plans for different players and hope they all come out good," he said

Giving his insights on the last match, he mentioned, "The batters in the last game took on the spinners very early. I guess they were 80 or 90 for four. Maybe, if they would have given a little bit more time, I guess it could have been a high-scoring match. We could have seen 200 score and a chase. There is nothing to talk about the wicket."

Shane Warne returned to Rajasthan Royals exactly a decade after he took the franchise to the title as the team mentor. The legendary leggie had played four seasons with the team before retiring from the IPL after the 2011 season. Talking about Shane Warne’s involvement in the team, Gowtham said that the Aussie has been working with the team from the start and all the players are trying to learn from the legend.

"He is a legend. He is the guy who started with RR. He was captain and coach. Right now he is our mentor. We are learning from him. Hope it helps us," said the Karnataka player.
