The Indian cricket team forced to cancel their first practice session on October 5 due to heavy rain ahead of the opening match of the T20I series against Australia on Saturday. On the other hand, the visitors manage to complete their practice session before rain made its presence.

Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, team India won the five-match ODI series by 4-1 against Australia. Now, the both teams will play three T20 matches and the first game will play on October 7. The teams reached Ranchi but Team India failed to practice on the ground because of heavy downpour. The showers continued for 45 minutes which forced them to stay in the hotel and avoid training at the JSCA International Stadium Complex.

On the other hand, Australia team seemed lucky enough as they completed training in the afternoon and went through their paces without being disturbed by rain. Steve Smith and Co. failed to perform in the 50 over format. Now, they wanted to save some pride by defeating the host in the shortest format of the game.

Despite the heavy rain canceling the practice session of India, the official of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association was confident of the match not getting washed out.

"Such passing showers are normal this time. But the good thing is rain comes and goes and is not prolonged this time of the year. We have adequate measures to prepare the ground for the match," the official said as quoted by PTI.

The second and third T20I match will be played in Guwahati and Hyderabad on October 10 and 13 respectively.
