In a dream-come-true moment, Mohammad Siraj made his debut for India on Sunday in the second T20I against New Zealand in Rajkot and he couldn't help his tears during the national anthem. But it turned out to be a forgettable debut for the Hyderabad pacer as he conceded 53 runs in four overs.

23-year-old Siraj, who was picked up in India’s T20 squad as a surprise inclusion, didn’t get a chance to make his debut in the first match of the series and was handed over the debut cap in the second match in Rajkot. It was obviously an emotional occasion for the Hyderabad lad and he was seen with tears and rubbing his eyes after the national anthem ahead of the match.

The international cap was given by the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri in the presence of the rest of the Indian team. But, he failed to have the best of the debuts. Although New Zealand skipper and his Sunrisers teammate Kane Williamson became his first international wicket, he conceded as many as 53 runs in four overs.

The Hyderabad pacer came to the fore with some brilliant performances for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL last year. The franchise had splurged a whopping 2.6 crores, from a base price of 20 lakhs, to get his services and the risk paid off really well with the youngster, who coming from a family where his father use to drive auto for the survival, ending up with 10 wickets in only six matches in his maiden IPL campaign.
