Yuvraj Singh was absent from India's first net practice sessions in London on Friday after being reportedly laid low by an illness and is expected to recover in a day's time. The Indian team will kick off their tournament against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 4 at Edgbaston.

The BCCI posted images of Indian players getting ready for their net sessions on social media handles on Friday. The Indian team practised in the nets at the Lord's cricket ground before heading back to their hotel rooms.

While the pictures showcased the likes of MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, and Virat Kohli; Yuvraj Singh was missing from them which raised speculations about the reasons for his absence from the session. Kohli had earlier described Yuvraj as the key player that would provide strength in the middle order and his absence came as a surprise to many.

According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror later in the day, BCCI revealed that Yuvraj Singh was suffering from illness and is expected to recover in a day's time. The report further went on to say that it is not certain whether Yuvraj will join the Indian team in their match against New Zealand on Sunday which is the first of the two warm-up matches that India will play before the tournament.
