Ajinkya Rahane played an uncharacteristically aggressive innings against Australia to seal a 2-1 series win for India at Dharamsala. KL Rahul has revealed that Rahane had made his mind up about his approach in the second innings and it showed as he smashed Pat Cummins for two consecutive sixes.

Even though it was KL Rahul’s unbeaten 51 that guided India to an 8 wicket victory, it was the aggressive manner in which Ajinkya Rahane batted that caught everyone by surprise. Rahul has revealed that Rahane had said that he would look to dominate the Australian bowlers right from the word go, after replacing Cheteshwar Pujara.

“The way Jinks came out and started hitting Cummins for sixes... He just came out and said I am going to dominate,” Rahul said after the game.

Rahane, usually a technically sound batsman, who is known to take his time in settling down, was seen taking the attack to the opposition as he hit four boundaries and two sixes and ended with a strike rate of 140.7. Though Australia may have been fancying their chances with India still needing 60 runs, Rahane sealed the deal in India’s favor following the a aggressive innings.
