The Australian dressing room was caught prematurely celebrating Matthew Wade's half-century after failing to realize that the umpire had signaled leg byes to a delivery that deflected off Wade's thigh pad and went for a boundary. The visitors realized their error when Wade didn't celebrate.

Reaching a half-century is always a joyful occasion for a batsman and his mates. However, on the first day of the fourth and final Test against India in Dharamsala on Saturday, the Australian team were fooled into premature celebrations.

The incident occurred in the 82nd over with Wade on a gritty 47 and facing Ravichandran Ashwin. A delivery going down the leg side flicked off Wade’s thigh pad and ran down to the boundary.

Without realizing that the umpire had signaled leg byes, the Australian dressing room was on their feet and applauding Wade on reaching his milestone. Josh Hazlewood was the first one to realize the collective error on part of the Aussie dressing room.
