Delhi Daredevils' JP Duminy pulls out of 2017 IPL

Although Duminy did not explain the reason specifically, it appears that he wanted to shift his entire focus to South Africa’s series against England, that starts on May 24, just before the Champions Trophy in the England. Speaking on the decision, Duminy expressed his disappointment but hoped to play for the franchise again in the future. 

"It has been a very difficult decision for me to make, but it was for purely personal reasons," Duminy said, reported ESPN Cricinfo.

"I'm grateful for the support and understanding from the franchise. It has been an absolute privilege to have played for and led a talented mix of players. I certainly hope to play a part for the franchise in the near future."

Speaking about Duminy’s decision, Daredevils chief executive officer Hemant Dua said, "We respect JP's decision. We are naturally very disappointed to not have JP in our midst this year, but as a franchise, we clearly understand his position. At this stage, we can only confirm that we will look for a replacement at an appropriate time."

The IPL set to underway from April 5 and the Daredevils will open their campaign against last season's runner-up Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 8.
