Mitchell Marsh set to miss IPL and Ashes following shoulder surgery

Marsh was recently ruled out of the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar series and was flown back to Australia to recover from a shoulder injury. "He had the injury through the summer, he was fine when he got here but it just got worse. I was really happy with the way he played the second innings in Pune. However, it appears that the 25-year-old could be sidelined for a longer spell than was estimated earlier. According to Australian media reports, Marsh is set to go under the knife to reconstruct his shoulder, which had troubled him for a while now. has said that the surgery is vital for Marsh to harbor any hopes of bowling at full pace in the future.

Marsh, who has accumulated 21 Test caps for Australia since making his debut against Pakistan in 2014, has been struggling to perform consistently over the past few months. His bowling pace has dropped from the 140s to 120s, while he has also had struggles with the bat as well scoring just 74 runs in his last six innings.

Marsh will miss out on the upcoming edition of the IPL where he plays for the Rising Pune Supergiants. The Pune-based franchise will, now, have to find a replacement for the all-rounder.
