Venkatesh Prasad applies for India coaching job

Following Anil Kumble's resignation as the head coach, the BCCI have invited more applications for the position. After the extended deadline, Venkatesh Prasad has joined Ravi Shastri in the race for the head coach job.

According to TOI reports, the 47-year-old refused to comment on the development. Prasad, who is an Arjuna Awardee, has represented India in 33 Tests and 161 ODIs. Currently, the Karnataka-born player is the bowling coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore which gives him the unique advantage of having managed Indian skipper Kohli. The 47-year-old is also about to finish his three-year term as the junior India Chief selector in September this year. 

Along with Prasad, 55-year-old Shastri, who was convinced by Sachin Tendulkar to join the running, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody, two-time Pakistan’s coach Richard Pybus, Afghanistan coach Lalchand Rajput, and Ganesh Dodda are on the list of applicants for the lucrative position.
