We have seen dogs and birds invading the cricketing field and halting play, but this time it was a cow that did so - and it was not in India. At a cricket match between Kerridge and Mossley, the cow threatened to injure the players who eventually managed to avoid the creature's brief onslaught.
The bovine was first seen patrolling the area from beyond the long-off boundary before running onto the field and taking the fielders head on literally. The cow's first target was the mid-on fielder who cleverly changed directions to get out of the beast's way. The creature then headed towards the square-leg fielder who sheltered himself behind the valiant umpire. The umpire, unlike the players, stood his ground boldly with his hands in the pocket as the player evaded the beast who narrowly missed the umpire's calf.
The beast then continued its stroll in the field before taking an exit from the ground in search of greener pastures.
