Champions Trophy 2017 | India needs to work on their ground fielding, feels Geoffrey Boycott

India registered a landslide win over Pakistan and started their title defence on a high. However, what went unnoticed in the process was the sloppy fielding errors that could actually cost the men in blue dearly under tight conditions as Geoffrey Boycott correctly noted.

“They have the likes of the wonderfully athletic Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, but there are a couple of camels on the field, and that may become a problem in tight matches, where a run gave away, or a dropped catch, could prove priceless,” Boycott wrote for Times group.

The incidents that raised these questions were Kedar Jadhav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar's dropped catches and minor errors in the outfield. However, the 76-year-old hailed India's all-around performance against arch-rivals Pakistan which resulted in the match becoming a lopsided affair contrary to the hype surrounding the match of it being anticipated to be a neck-to-neck battle.

“The catching and ground fielding varied from the sublime to the ridiculous, and both sides were equally guilty, but India batted and bowled very well. All they need to work on are their ground fielding and catching."

India will next face Sri Lanka tomorrow (June 8) in a bid to seal a berth in the semi-finals of the tournament.
