Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan (190), Cheteshwar Pujara (153), Ajinkya Rahan (57) and Ravichandran Ashwin (47) had helped India to strength the Indian innings. Following suit, Pandya and Shami also played their role. Pandya, who has pumped up his hard hitting to new levels, brought it to the pitch once again today. His brisk fifty in 49 balls helped India to put 600 runs in the first inning on the second day.
Pacer Shami began the onslaught and targeted Sri Lanka’s captain and most experienced bowler Rangana Herath as he smashed him for two more maximums.
Pandya also joined him on the act as he picked on Pradeep and smoked him for three sixes in two overs. This partnership from Pandya and Shami saw the duo put on 62 runs from 50 balls as India finished on a strong note.
