WATCH: MS Dhoni tells Chahal exactly what is going through Root's head

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was up to his usual brilliance yet again as he correctly predicted what shot Joe Root was going to play against Yuzvendra Chahal in the first T20 in Kanpur. India ended up losing the first game of the three-match series by seven wickets after the batting order failed to deliver.

Widely regarded as one of the most intelligent players in the game, Mahendra Singh Dhoni proved once again how good he is at understanding his opponents. During the first T20, he was heard telling Chahal to keep bowling a fuller line because Joe Root was going to come out of his crease and play an advanced shot.

"Ye aagenikalkemarega, tuaagehigendrakh," the stump microphone picked up Dhoni telling Chahal, which is loosely translated as "He is going to come out and attack you, keep bowling a fuller delivery."

Dhoni's prediction did not have the desired effect on the day, as despite his advice to the bowler, Root came out of his crease and managed to smash the ball through extra cover for a boundary.

After a lackluster display, India lost the first match by seven wickets and England took a lead for the first time on their tour of India. The second T20 will be played tomorrow at the VCA stadium in Nagpur.
