Kedar Jadhav has credited MS Dhoni for the calmness that he displayed during the tough run-chase in the third ODI against England in Kolkata. Jadhav is happy with his performance in the ODI series and insisted that playing alongside Virat Kohli has provided him with the know-how to finish games.

I’ve been spending a lot of time with Dhoni and it has helped me deal with situations calmly.

“The thing is, since the time I came in the team, I’ve been spending a lot of time with Dhoni and it has helped me deal with situations calmly. Especially if you pitch it up, there was some movement, and that is why I didn’t want to come forward, I wanted to stay back, and with the dew, I knew normal shots will get me boundaries,” Jadhav said after the narrow defeat at Kolkata.

Chasing 322 for victory at the Eden Gardens on Sunday, India fell short by five runs despite Jadhav’s brilliant 90. The 31-year-old has been the biggest find for India in the series. Jadhav finished as the highest runs scorer with 232 in three games and was adjudged player of the series.

“First game when I was in the middle, with Virat, this is the time where you can learn how to finish games and that is what I told Hardik as well. If we play to our potential through the end, we would win. I would have have been happier if we would have won this game, but I am satisfied with what I have done in this series. I can still improve,” Jadhav said.

Jadhav is hopeful that his showing in this series would be enough to earn him a place in the squad for the Champions Trophy in England in June.
