"There has been heavy dew for last few days and we will try our best to negate it - by using chemical spray, two super-soppers and roping the field," Patnaik said on Tuesday, reported PTI.
The outfield grass has also been trimmed to about six millimetres from eight so that dew soaks into the ground, he added.
It will be out an out batting and it's up for the batters to make it count.
Pitch curator
India are heading into this game after a stunning run chase in the first ODI at Pune and according to Patnaik, we are likely to encounter another high-scoring game at Odisha.
"It's difficult for me to predict a total but this pitch will be full of runs as it has always been. It will be out an out batting and it's up for the batters to make it count," he added.
The last ODI hosted at the stadium was back in 2014 between India and Sri Lanka. The home side went on to score 363 runs in that game with Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan scoring a couple of centuries at the top of the order. Ishant Sharma picked up four wickets as India bowled out the visitors for 194 to win the game by 169 runs.
The Barabati Stadium had hosted the Ranji Trophy encounter between Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir recently which ended in a draw. However, as the curator had said, a lot of runs were scored in that match. Both India and England will arrive tomorrow at the stadium to practice ahead of the second ODI.
