Arjuna Ranatunga has stated that he is not following Sri Lanka's series against India and prefers watching the England-South Africa Test series. The former Lankan skipper has further added that he has given up watching the team play owing to the disgusting administration of cricket in the country.

Sri Lanka is battling it out in an ongoing three-match Test series against sub-continental rivals India on its home turf and were defeated in the first Test of the series by a colossal margin of 304 runs. Before the loss against India Sri Lanka slumped to a record ODI series defeat at the hands of 11th-ranked Zimbabwe which raised questions on the quality of cricket in the Island nation and former skipper Arjuna Ranatunga was their biggest critic.

Ranatunga revealed he is not following the national team in any format of the game owing to the terrible administration of the game in the country. He further stated that he is following the England-South Africa series instead where hosts England are leading the 4-match Test series by 2-1 with the last Test scheduled to commence on 4th August.

“Sri Lanka Cricket and the manner in which it is being administered and managed is so disgusting that I don’t watch our national cricket anymore,” Ranatunga was quoted as saying by a local news outlet ‘Ceylon Today’ reported PTI.

The 1996 World Cup-winning captain insisted on writing to the President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe about the need for the reinstatement of the Interim Committee to manage Sri Lanka Cricket.
