India retain fourth spot in ICC ODI rankings

India managed to hold onto the fourth spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings with 112 points despite not playing an ODI game in over 2 months. South Africa topped the rankings with 119 rating points closely followed by Australia with 118 while New Zealand hold the third spot with 113 rating points.

India played their last ODI tournament in January against England - a series they won 2-1.

Pakistan and West Indies will start their 3-match ODI series starting April 7 to consolidate their position in the rankings so as to be assured of a direct World Cup qualification spot. Presently, Pakistan are in 8th spot with 89 points below Bangladesh who drew the recently concluded series with Sri Lanka while West Indies is at the ninth spot five points behind Pakistan. 

The top 8 teams in the rankings automatically qualify for the World Cup while 4 teams have to battle in a 10-team qualifying tournament to qualify for the prestigious tournament.

In the player rankings, AB de Villiers tops the list as the best batsman in the world with 875 rating points followed closely by David Warner with 871. Kohli is third on the list with 852 points.

The bowling chart is led by South African Imran Tahir with Sunil Narine and Mitchell Starc tied at the second spot with Kiwi pacer Trent Boult at 4th.

Shakib Al Hasan, along with the Test rankings, tops the ODI all-rounder list as well.
