Sunil Gavaskar slams Virat Kohli’s gesture after Ben Stokes dismissal

Sunil Gavaskar has expressed his displeasure at Virat Kohli's celebrations after Ben Stokes’ dismissal on Day 1 of the third Test against England in Mohali. Kohli and Stokes got into a verbal spat as the latter was walking away, and it needed the on-field umpire to intervene and calm down tempers.
Gavaskar said, “Whatever was said, it really needs to be nipped in the bud,” reported cricket.com.au.
Stokes was batting at 29 when he had a moment of madness and jumped out of the crease only to stumped by Parthiv Patel off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling leaving England at 144/5.
As Stokes was making his way back to the pavilion, he turned back and had a look a Virat Kohli. The Indian captain appeared to say "What?" to the Englishman. After a few more words were exchanged, Umpire Marais Erasmus was forced to intervene and separate the duo. Eventually, Stokes was reprimanded by the International Cricket Council.
Gavaskar, who was in the BBC commentary team at the time, added, "You have got the batsman out, why do you need to give him a send off? Why say anything? Just congratulate your team-mates and Parthiv Patel for a fine piece of work on his comeback. "But why say anything to the batsman? He’s upset as it is. Then what, rub salt into the wounds?
“It’s the one part of cricket I do not approve of at all.”
The incident ended with Ben Stokes being reprimanded by the ICC for breaching the Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
