Dhoni rips apart media-person after dramatic last ball win

Right after India's last-ball win yesterday, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was flabbergasted with the media when asked how satisfied he was with the win. The journalist queried how happy the captain was after struggling to a win especially after Dhoni had stressed on upping the Net Run Rate before the match.

Entering the conference room smiling and beaming after the win and facing a not-so-positive question first up left Dhoni displeased. Having highlighted the importance of increasing the Net run-rate (NRR) to improve chances of qualification, before the game, a question on the same was expected after such a tight win. But the question did not seem to go down well with the 34-year old and he lashed out without a second thought. “I know you aren’t happy that India won today,” blasted Dhoni.

As the journalist tried to defend himself and clarify the question further, Dhoni cut him short. “Listen to me. Hearing you, your tone and your question, it’s clear that you aren’t happy that India has won,” he said.

The Indian captain also said that cricket is a sport and cannot be scripted. “And when talking about a cricket match, there’s no script. It’s not about the script.”

With tempers cooling down in the room, Dhoni started to reason out and shared how India managed to win the game from an almost impossible position. “You have to analyse that after losing the toss, what was the reason that we couldn’t make many runs on that wicket,” he went on to add.

Before concluding with another dig at the media saying, “If you aren’t analysing these things sitting outside, then you shouldn’t ask this question.”

MS Dhoni absolutely rips apart a journalist for asking a very stupid question and rightly so. Brilliant by Mahi! #WT20
